Our children come from a wide range of backgrounds, but all have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH). Many will also have other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) such as Autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties.
The work we do is both varied and challenging and, as a trauma and attachment informed organisation, all staff are provided with extensive therapeutic training and support.
Our closely triangulated approach places the childat the centre of decision making, ensuring that education and therapy professionals, parents/carers, local authority teams and, most importantly, our students can work together to secure outstanding outcomes for all.
The Role
We are seeking a calm, caring and reliable Lunchtime Supervisor to join our team. This role is vital in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our students during the lunch period. You will provide supervision, encouragement and emotional support during lunchtimes, both in the dining area and on the playground or other recreational spaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise students during lunchtime, ensuring safety and the promotion of an inclusive environment
- Promote positive social interactions and model appropriate behaviour.
- Encourage participation in structured or informal play and social activities.
- Support students who may become dysregulated, using de-escalation strategies and emotional coaching.
- Ensure the dining area is safe, clean and well-organised before, during, and after lunch.
- Report any concerns regarding behaviour, welfare or safeguarding to the relevant staff in line with school policies.
- Work closely with teaching and support staff to ensure consistency of approach.
Essential Requirements
- A calm, patient and empathetic approach to working with children with SEMH needs.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children.
Desirable
- Experience working in an SEMH, SEN or similar setting.
- Food hygiene certificate
- First Aid qualification.
