We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate person to join our Learning and Development team, on a full time basis. Working collaboratively with all stakeholders, you will have strong reflective skills, be knowledgeable and personable; you will strive to ensure that the children and young people in our care reach their full potential through providing effective training to foster carers, social workers and many more developing skills and competencies.
You will work across the East, including Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, North East London and parts of Kent, as well as meetings in our Syston office, allowing for significant collaborative working. This may at times require overnight stays.
We are looking for a committed social work trainer who would like to work within a children’s service offering fostering, residential and education services to children and young people.
Key aspects to the role are:
- Core Skills and Competencies (Required)
- Deliver engaging, reflective, and stimulating training (in-person and online) to diverse audiences (large groups, small groups, 1:1).
- Understand Fostering Regulations, child care law, other key government legislation and professional standards (Social Work England, and Social Care Wales) and well as regulatory inspection frameworks.
- Develop and maintain engaging learning and training materials with an ability to integrate trauma-informed and relation-based approaches into training.
- Model Compass’s vision and values in practice, whilst providing a comprehensive learning ethos to the Compass Community focused on in flow learning and developing skills.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication
- High level of proficiency in using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and a willingness to learn the use of our in-house databases
- Strong reflective and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders (social workers, managers, carers)
- Ability to work under pressure and manage workload whilst remaining calm and professional
- Strong safeguarding practice
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Previous training and facilitation experience in person to foster carers and social workers
- Coaching and guiding refection skills
- Ability to create interactive digital content (e.g., SCORM packages, video modules)
- Awareness of diversity, equity, and inclusion in training delivery and ability to tailor content to culturally diverse audiences
- Awareness of Dyadic Developmental Practice principles
