Compass Fostering is looking to grow and develop its Foster Panel’s centralised pool of talent. We are looking to recruit panel members to attend our regular virtual full day panel meetings.
Compass Fostering’s foster panel makes evidence-based recommendations about applicants’ suitability to be approved, and to be re-approved as foster carers. Its panels also provide consistent, independent oversight reflective of Compass’s vision, ethics and values.
Compass Fostering is looking to widen its pool of panel member talent. For that reason applications are actively sought and encouraged from those from the widest range of backgrounds, and particularly from those who are currently underrepresented in our panel member talent pool :
- Those from Global Majority backgrounds also currently underrepresented both in the approved fostering population and overrepresented in the population of children in care
- Those with recent care experience, or who have been in care in the recent past
- Those with more differing abilities such as neurodivergence and those who are neurodiverse
- Experienced currently qualified social workers with recent professional experience in children’s social care
We are growing the strengths of our foster panels. All panel members will be expected and supported to work within Compass Fostering’s quality practice standards, and within Fostering Regulations & National Minimum Standards as guided, determined and communicated by the Panel Chair and Panel Advisor.
Good listening and communication skills are essential along with the ability to make an assessment based on the written and oral information presented to the panel in a balanced and informed manner. Most importantly is the ability to work to Compass Panel’s Practice standards & expectations, and to support the timely and quality professional activities of foster panel. Panel members in their activities ensure that quality standards are met along with confident, professional recommendation formation. Ideally candidates should have a working knowledge of Fostering National Minimum Standards (or willingness to learn, and adopt to them) as well as the capacity to serve professionally alongside Compass’s Panel Assessment Managers. Applicants must also be confident with online / virtual panels or professional meetings.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we expect all employees and independent panel members to share this commitment.
Compass Fostering’s Panels are virtual, and full day. We are growing our ways of working, and we are looking for panel member applicants who want to practice to the highest of standards. Whilst the role is virtual in nature, the role applies to England only. Any registration with any professional regulatory body needs to meet standards needed for England.
Compass Fostering’s remuneration framework is under review and this can be discussed with interested applicants.
The role is independent in its arrangement, and subject to a full range of compliance checks as well as induction and regular performance review, alongside attendance and participation in required training.
