Are you an Occupational Therapist looking for an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of children and young people?
Compass Community Schools is looking for an Occupational Therapist to join our Education Team and help shape and develop Occupational Therapy provision across our schools.
This is an exciting opportunity to use your clinical expertise beyond individual interventions. Working alongside our Senior Occupational Therapist, SENDCos, Occupational Therapy Champions, Speech and Language Therapists and wider school teams, you will help create sensory-informed, participation-focused and trauma-informed environments where learners can regulate, engage, participate and develop their independence.
You will help schools develop a culture where occupational wellbeing, sensory regulation, participation and independence are everyone's responsibility. As a trusted source of Occupational Therapy expertise, use observation, consultation, coaching, modelling and training to help colleagues recognise and reduce barriers to learning and participation. You will provide practical advice on environmental adaptations, reasonable adjustments, equipment and therapeutic approaches, while supporting the development of our Occupational Therapy Champions to build sustainable OT knowledge and practice across our schools — always with a focus on making a meaningful difference to each learner's everyday experience.
There is also the opportunity to contribute to the wider development of Occupational Therapy across Compass Community Schools, giving you the chance to influence practice beyond your own setting.
About you
We're looking for an Occupational Therapist who is passionate about helping children and young people overcome barriers to participation and achieve positive outcomes.
You will be:
- HCPC registered and a member of RCOT.
- Experienced in working with children and young people with SEND and complex trauma.
- Confident managing a complex caseload and working independently.
- Confident in working as part of a wider multidisciplinary team
- Experienced in providing consultation, advice and training to education or care teams.
- Able to build strong relationships and communicate recommendations in a practical, accessible way.
- Passionate about sensory-informed, trauma-informed and participation-focused practice.
Experience in specialist education, residential care, multidisciplinary teams, neurodiversity-affirming practice or areas such as Sensory Integration, Autism, Attachment, Emotional Regulation or Assistive Technology would be welcomed.
