About The Role

Make a difference through technology.

At Compass Community, we're looking for a proactive and customer-focused Field Service Engineer to provide high-quality on-site and remote IT support across our residential homes, schools and services. You'll play a key role in ensuring our systems are secure, reliable and fit for purpose, enabling colleagues to deliver safe and effective support to children, young people, families and carers.

Working closely with the Network & Field Operations Manager and the wider IT team, you'll support the day-to-day running of our IT services, helping colleagues resolve technical issues, maintain equipment and get the most from their technology. This is a varied role that combines technical expertise with excellent customer service and will involve regular travel to services across the UK.

You will be supporting services across our North Region.

What you'll be doing

  • Providing 1st and 2nd line IT support both remotely and on-site.
  • Installing and maintaining PCs, laptops, tablets, printers and networking equipment.
  • Supporting Microsoft 365, Windows devices, cloud-based systems and Wi-Fi connectivity.
  • Troubleshooting technical issues and carrying out routine maintenance and upgrades.
  • Supporting new site setups and IT projects.
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring systems remain secure and compliant.
  • Working closely with colleagues, providing clear guidance and support in a non-technical and approachable way.

What we're looking for

  • Experience in an IT Support or Field Service role.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365 and basic networking.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality and professional conduct.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively.

Why Compass Community?

Compass Community exists to create a future of strength and opportunity for every child. Through our fostering, residential care and education services, we support children and young people to thrive. As a Field Service Engineer, your work will directly support the teams delivering these vital services every day.

If you're passionate about technology, enjoy helping people and want to use your skills to make a genuine difference, we'd love to hear from you.
